The ISS 1.2 CPU card is designed as an embedded PC with an integrated web server. With the CPU card measuring just 40 x 150 mm, the visualization of measurement, control and regulation data – worldwide if necessary – can be easily implemented in all conceivable network environments thanks to the integrated web server.

ISS 1.2
Motherboard design for the ISS
The motherboard links the ISS1.2 (AMD 486 base, 100 Mhz) with the digital output board DIGOUT. The operating system is QNX 4.25 on the ISS 1.2 (not mandatory). It can currently be equipped with 4 DIGOUT boards.
Digital Output Board (DIGOUT)
The DIGOUT is a 16 bit I/O ISA bus board. Together with the motherboard and our “PiggyPack” AquaPro, the whole thing becomes a functional application with which the flow is measured with a flowmeter (KOBOLD DF or similar) as part of paper production.
Global perspectives for your developments
Admittedly, we did not invent the use of local intelligence in the form of embedded computers any more than we invented real-time data processing. But we do have a solution when it comes to radically simplifying the integration of miniaturized computers in modern network-oriented applications and the graphical representation of process data. The visualization of process data in the form of a multitude of graphical interfaces is a typical problem area in automation technology. Here we rely on a standard that is available on almost every computer worldwide at low cost, regardless of computer and operating system platforms: browser technology. Be it the company’s internal intranet or the global Internet, communication with the intelligent ISS 1.2 CPU card and the visualization of your measurement, control and regulation data takes place – if necessary worldwide – without any problems in all conceivable network environments thanks to the integrated web server. To ensure that you are largely protected from unpleasant surprises with so much openness of the connections and the possible worldwide data exchange, an effective firewall can be integrated into the system thanks to the selected Ethernet architecture. However, sensible standards also prevail in other respects. Two twisted pair Ethernet controllers, open communication standards such as TCP/IP protocol, tried and tested ISA bus technology, possible standard operating systems such as QNX™, Linux and Windows CE, standard development tools, the Java development environment and the industrial-grade power supply of 7 to 35 volts unsmoothed operating voltage allow your developers to get straight down to business. And because speed also counts when commissioning complex applications, your engineers will be delighted with a fully functional PC with automatic network configuration, the pre-installed operating system and a boot time of less than 2 seconds.
